Dragonball Z Character Bios
Son Gokou is the main character in Dragonball Z. He is supposedly the strongest character
in the series and has a pure heart. He was first found in issue #1 and has been in every
other issue since. All three series has been the story of his life. When he was twelve he
met Bulma and some other friends on a quest for the dragonballs. Ever since then he has
exceeded his fighting limit and has always been one step ahead of every one of his allies.
When he got older he married a woman named Chi Chi and had two children Gohan and Goten.
He has trained under many masters such as Master Roshi, Kame, and King Kai, but his true
master was himself. In many series he has come to the rescue after training himself for a
long period of time and has even been speculated to be the legendary Super Saiyan, (I think
it’s Broli). I think that Gokou’s pretty cool, and he’s the favorite character of Akira
Toriyama. He never gives up under any circumstance and has a love for fighting, as well as
a hunger just as big.
Son Gohan is the first son of Gokou. He is similar in many ways to Gokou, he has great
fighting power, a huge appetite, and looks very similar as well. But being half-saiyan
he has differences as well. Being pampered by his mother at an early age, he is incredibly
smart (he becomes a scientist), and doesn’t enjoy fighting as much as his father, making
him kinder and more sympathetic. When Gohan first appeared in the series, he was incredibly
cute, and was very weak. He was pampered and had no experience in fighting whatsoever.
If it wasn’t for Piccolo, he probably would have stayed that way. His power was average
at first, not very much helping in fights. But as he got older his power increased
dramatically, being the first to become Super Saiyan 2. When he is angered, his power
even exceeds Gokou’s at times. He was once the strongest fighter in the universe…until
he started high school that is.
Son Goten is the second son of Gokou. He was born right after Gokou died in the battle
with Cell, and is approximately 5-7 years old. Because he never saw is father until the
tournament, Gokou was considered a type of myth to Goten. Goten is very powerful (he
could turn Super Saiyan almost immediately), and is incredibly cute. He never had a
true mentor, like Gokou and Gohan did, and in my opinion, for that reason he doesn’t
unleash his true power. Another reason is that Chi-Chi pampers him like hell. Goten
looks exactly like Gokou, but they’re different in many ways. Goten doesn’t have as
big as an appetite as Gokou (even though he still eats a whole lot), his fighting power
was much higher than Gokou’s when he was Gokou’s age( he was born with the ability to
get to Super Saiyan, which is incredible) and fools around much more than the serious
Gokou. But he’s still just a kid. His best friend is Chibi Trunks, the son of Vegita,
and together they go through many mishaps. They are a comical duo, and when bonded
together through the power of Fusion, they are a force to be reckoned with. I believe
that Akira Toriyama ignores Goten in a way, because he never truly focuses on Goten as
the main character, and portrays him a bit weaker than the other characters in the story.
But yet he is no shame to the Saiyan pride.
Vegita is the Prince Of Saiyans. He was originally one of the most evil villains in the
entire DragonBall Z series, and it took Gokou, Klylin, Gohan, and even Yajerobi to defeat
him. He’s the strongest character in the series, next to Gokou and Gohan that is. The
only reason that Vegita isn’t portrayed stronger than Gokou is that he tries too hard in
the beginning of the battle leaving him open for a serious @$$ wuppin. Vegita has a type
of electrified hair and looks definitely cooler than Gokou, later on in the series that is.
He also has tight looking armor, that makes him look even cooler than he is. He has that
type of tough, attitude that makes him the kind of guy looking for trouble. He’s not the
type of boring hero that Gokou is, and uses his power so extremely that its hard not to
like him. He has fun with his fights and plays around with the weaker opponents. Even
when he was a villain, he tortured and messed up his opponents as well as waiting for the
right moments to attack so that they didn’t die a simple, easy death. He’s always trying
hardest to be the best, and his pride & arrogance makes his attitude even better. I guess
that’s why he’s my favorite character. In other words he’s as cool as hell.
Future Trunks is the first Trunks that appears in the series, and is the son of Vegita and
Bulma, hard to imagine isn’t it? He comes from the future where everyone is killed by the
Androids, except him and Son Gohan who is his mentor at the time. After Gohan is killed
when Trunks is a teenager, he goes back in time to attempt to save Gokou, the only hope for
the future. It turns out that Gokou died of heart disease even before he had a chance.
After the androids are defeated, Trunks returns to the future, where everything is settled
once and for all. During the fight with the Androids, Chibi Trunks (young) is born and it
is interesting to see when they are compared. Trunks always had a difficult relationship
with his father. Vegita was often very harsh and had little to do with his family. But
that changes when at the end of the series, when Vegita apoligizes for not being the best
father or husband. Vegita then gives his life in an attempt to kill Buu. Future Trunks was
very strong. He had extreme power and his sword made it even better for him. He had many of
the attacks that his father had and easily defeated many enemies. Chibi Trunks hasn’t shown
abominable strength, except when fused with Goten. Trunks is a very noble character and
quite quiet, future one at least. Future Trunks stays mainly to himself and cares for his
family very much. Chibi Trunks on the other had acres mainly on having fun. Many have claimed
that Future Trunks is the coolest character in the series, mostly physical looking wise.
He has long purple bangs, a sword strapped along his back, and often wears a black wife
beater with a jacket. But I’ll have to go with Vegita on this one..,
Piccolo is the strongest Namek in the universe. At first he had the same power level as
Gokou, but after Gokou died and trained with King Kai, he’s always been one step ahead of
Piccolo. Like Vegita, Piccolo was also once a villain. To be exact, there wasn’t just the
Piccolo known today. The original Piccolo came from Namek, and split himself in two. The
good Piccolo in one (Kamesennin), and the evil Piccolo in the other (Piccolo Damiao). After
Piccolo Damiao lost in a battle against young Gokou, before he died, he spat out an egg that
would be his last attempt to have revenge on Gokou. Inside the egg was the Piccolo we know
today. After barely losing to Gokou in the yearly tournament, he never had a chance to his
rematch. He has always stayed isolated like Vegita, and slowly turned good throughout the series.
This is mainly because he had to train Gohan. Since then he has been like a father figure to Gohan.
Many times he has stood by the Z Fighters side and came in to rescue the day, usually with his
famous Makkensoppo. Because Piccolo is Namek, he looks a bit strange, but it grows on you. He
has green skin, a bald head, and antennas sticking out at the top. At certain inner joints of
his body, the skin is stripped and purple and his outfit is purple as well. He dons his famous
white cape and white cap with a strange purple globe on it. But all in all, Piccolo is one tight
character who slowly does everything in his power to save the earth and protect it. he is always
on a quest to train harder and eventually become stronger than Gokou. But that drive slowly runs off…
Klilyn is Son Gokou’s best friend. He’s appeared ever since issue # 2, and like many other good guys,
he was a type of villain. Although he never hurt Gokou, he displayed many dirty tricks so that he
would win the favor of Kamehennin (Master Roshi) as his favorite student. They were evenly matched,
as well has being the same height, but as time went on, Gokou grew and became to be the most powerful
hero in the series. Klilyn simply stayed a midget, but he did improve his power. He is now the mostly
powerful human on the earth must is no match to the Saiyan or Namek race. His once rude and mischievous
character is replaced by the honest and pure-hearted character he is now. He’s always had a sense of
humor and has helped Gokou and his friends in any way he can taking as much as he has to, to help his
friends defeat evil. Klilyn is one of the strangest looking characters. That’s probably because he has
a bald head, six dots on his forehead, and no nose. But he still looks cool in his usual fighting outfit.
You’d think that he’d never get married, but he does…to Android 18. And they live happily ever after
having a daughter named Marron that cries like…
Chichi is Gokou’s wife. She was first introduced in the Dragonball series as a small girl. She was first
quiet and polite, but as she grew older that part of her disappeared. She immediately gets pissed off in
her reaapearance in issue #14, when Gokou forgets her name. After she and Gokou are married , she is always
portrayed as a bitter worrysome mother. She is overprotective and disproves in martial arts. She always
strives to give the best life for Gohan and Goten, and is also worried for Gokou as well.
She did have fighting talent, but it seems microscopic compared to the Z fighters. All in all she’s an
okay character, but simply annoying.
Bulma has been in the series as long as Gokou has. She is a computer genius and marries Vegita to have
2 kids, Trunks and Bra. Trunks? Bra?!?! Anyway, she is quite annoying at time, even more so than Chi
Chi and is quite a bit of a wuss. She has absolutely no fighting ability, and has blue hair (maybe
that’s why Trunks and Bra’s hair is purple, Black + Blue =Purple, makes sense.)
For the longest time, she had the biggest thing for Yamcha (like the way that my friend has a thing for
David Duchovny, yeah I know that’s sick.) But after many off and on relations hips, she got with Vegita
(that’s as unexpected as her getting with Piccolo) and has been content ever since. After getting married
and having kids, she quieted down and became friends with Chichi. One strange note: She’s the only
character in the series to show her breasts. :P
